8 Reasons why the world needs metaverse

What exactly is metaverse?

The metaverse is a proposed expansion to existing internet technologies. Potential access points for metaverses include general-purpose computers and smartphones, in addition to augmented reality (AR), mixed reality, virtual reality (VR), and virtual world technologies. 

Author Neal Stephenson is credited with coining the term "metaverse" in his 1992 science fiction novel "Snow Crash," in which he envisioned lifelike avatars who met in realistic 3D buildings and other virtual reality environments. Metaverse in its simplest form will allow you to be connected to other people in an augmented reality that aims to bridge the gap in communication in the sense of the evolution of technological setup. We see this in Roblox, Minecraft, Microsoft, and Facebook though it is still not mainstream today. Here are reasons why we need this reimagined world:

1. We are a product of birth lottery. 

Metaverse gives people the autonomy to decide on what life they wanted. Even if it is augmented this is still an avenue for people to uphold their autonomy to decide how they want to live their life. For example, a birthday celebration might be held through Roblox or maybe a Zumba session encouraged to exercise in a jungle, drive a bus to LA, and many other ways for you to live life the way you want it. One expected thing is if you are far from a particular demographic, metaverse allows you to be connected like going to your favorite Korean concert and what have you. So presumably this is a chance for all of us to attend a concert of our favorite artist even if we are far from them. 

2. New level of learning.

There are things in life that cannot be taught by books. Metaverse's characteristics offer a new way for lessons to be easily digested. VA and RA will help to make education engaging. This means that students will be able to access the kind of information that they needed 

3. Initiate electronic commerce and virtual economy

Stores will be innovative in shifting to heavy graphics e-store. It will open opportunities for small businesses to earn online. We've seen how sites are earning by monetizing their skills, metaverse will help to boost this as well as digital products. It also provides new opportunities for workplace communications and interactions. Opportunities for brands is prevalent by reaching new audiences and creating new brand perception.

4. Expansion of social media

This will also boost the affordability of experience on social platforms. More features will surely increase our experience through the different mechanisms, VAs, and designed virtual wallpapers. 

5. Celebration of Blockchain

Metaverse is complimentary to the existence of NFTs, digital currency, bitcoin, Ethereum, and digital blockchain. It is specifically a decentralized or distributed database used as a record or ledger of transactions. Note that internet users are increasingly participating in this method that may be the future of the digital economy. Metaverses could increase demand for non-fungible tokens (NFT), as well. For example, Mr. Eli Tan on Coinbase recently published an article in which he stated that the NFT for a $900,000 virtual estate was sold on Decentraland.

6. Helping you to connect across the other half

Connection is stronger when you have your own virtual image. Meeting new people across borders will be easier. In metaverse you can customize your avatar, you develop a more intimate relationship with the people you have online, your family, friends, and more.

7. Less CO2

The emission of Carbo Dioxide (CO2) and automobiles such as NO, CO, and hydrocarbons exhaust from companies and vehicles are major problems to our environment. But with the Metaverse at least we can mitigate it. For one thing, you won’t necessarily be using physical cars often which is one less carbon dioxide released through the virtual teleportation.

8. Makes everything interesting.

In a world where you can be creative about who you really wanted to be and how you will spend your life. It makes everything interesting. Just imagine reading your favorite book in your own imagined setting makes metaverse very interesting once in mainstream,
