How to decide what course is best for you?
HOW TO DECIDE WHAT COURSE FITS FOR YOU?
1. Get Informed.
School and the outside world are very different. The best way to have a glimpse of what social reality looks like is to have information about it. Learning what is in demand by researching is crucial for you to have an outlook of what might happen in the future. For instance, the Global South may not accept certain jobs because of border issues, or if you plan to work abroad your chosen track might not lead you to a better opportunity abroad because it is no longer the interest of that particular country. Be very specific in imagining what context you wanted to work and using being specific you may consider different settings e.g., hospital, engineering field, business, or what have you. Know your surroundings and do your research. You may ask your parents or your family.
2. Know your life design.
Know your passion. While some students confuse pragmatics or practicality with passion, we posit that your passion can bring you income too. The reason why we think that some courses like engineering, accountancy, and mainstream courses are for practicality is mainly that we have been socially engineered that only those courses can bring us a better future. The world is evolving and there are a lot of art graduates that are earning money as well in fact there are social managers that are earning six digits. Secondly, it is easier to work if you love what you are doing, do not get trap and learn to embrace your life design. Knowing your passion will make you choose the best course that fits you.
3. Know your life work.
After knowing your passion you may now decide what life work you really wanted and this time you can be specific. For instance, if your passion is you love sciences and everything about science, you may consider working as a science teacher, or you may consider being in the hospital, or maybe you wanted to be a biologist or a consultant. If you feel like imagining yourself in a scrub suit makes you better and fulfilled then you may consider that as your life work.
4. Choose your course now.
Having the information on the table, your passion, and finally knowing the working life work you may now decide what course will lead you to land on that life work and passion that you aspire. If you love sciences and you wanted to spend your life working in a hospital you may consider getting a degree in nursing or medical courses.
5. Choose the best school for you.
Now that you have finally decided what course you wanted to have, it is also crucial to know what type of schools can provide you the best training that you will be needing to be successful in your field. Some students might say that schools are the same but in social reality, schools that are accredited and have credible board passers often had opportunities in the working field. State universities are way less costly yet provide quality education. There are state-funded schools too.
